About

In 2012, Peacock Works was formed to help spread best practices of data visualization. Technologies like Hadoop was released in Dec 2011, opening the deluge of Big Data which swamped companies from truly interpreting and communicating the insights that were being uncovered.
With the exponential growth of data collection and ingestion techniques the simple acts of telling effective stories with data were sorely lagging. This provided a unique opportunity to leverage the arts and science of data visualization to educate those working and presenting data.

Starting out as a 30 minute session outlining key teachings for visualizing effective graphs has evolved into extensive full day workshops catered to client's specific needs. Workshops covering topics not only best practices of data visualizations but also data storytelling practices, building effective dashboards and communicating data via infographics.

Have worked with a diverse group of individuals with varied backgrounds from healthcare to technology to help uncover insights in their data. Was pivotal in the inception, development and deployment of edwaittimes.ca which helps residents of Vancouver lower mainland be informed of near realtime average ED wait times in 6 major emergency departments.
